Baby Eczema - 3 Things You Should Understand About Inflammation and Baby Eczema Right Now!

One of the things that skin inflammation will do to your baby is make his skin age quickly and make him look older than he actually is. You do not want this to happen. To prevent its occurrence you will have to be able to keep the fires of skin inflammation down. In this article we will look at some of the things that are important to know about skin inflammation.

Appearance

You will be able to determine if your baby's skin is inflamed by looking at it. You will see redness and swelling. You will also feel heat when you touch it.

The redness and heat is a result of blood and other healing agents being dispatched to the scene of an irritation or infection. When an area becomes inflamed, it is supposed to be a healing thing that is taking place and sometimes it is. Inflammation only becomes a problem when it goes too far in its work, and does not stop when it is supposed to.

Acute vs. Chronic

There is more than one type of inflammation. There is the chronic inflammation and the acute inflammation. With acute inflammation, there is an insult; the inflammation goes to the area, makes repairs and then leaves.

With chronic inflammation an insult is perceived, the inflammation goes to the area does the work and keeps on working even after the perceived problem is supposedly solved. The chronic inflammation just keeps right on working until cells in the area of the inflammation become damaged.

When the cells become damaged they are then looked on by inflammation as a trespasser, and the inflammation will try to get rid of them. The end result is that you will end up with a situation where inflammation comes to an area to fight against damaged cells, and as soon as you get the inflammation to go away, it comes back again to fight off these damaged cells, and the cycle continues.

In the case of eczema, what the inflammation is doing is giving an eczema type response while it is active trying to get rid of the damaged cells. In order for the cycle to stop you will have to stop it.

Causes of inflammation

You can tell from the above description that you do not want this cycle to begin in your baby. There are three things that really promote inflation, and others that remove inflammation. You would probably want to acquaint yourself with some of these.
